MAGTREX materials require both magnetic and dielectric properties in the design model. That makes them a specialized branch of this library, distinct from the ordinary nonmagnetic assumptions used by most PCB impedance calculators.

Two material responses must be modeled

For MAGTREX 555, obtain the relevant permittivity, permeability and their losses across the intended frequency range. A Dk-only comparison hides the feature that makes a magnetodielectric material different. The ratio and frequency behavior of those properties matter as well as their magnitudes.

Choose a suitable modeling route

A generic microstrip estimate that assumes relative permeability equal to one is not an appropriate qualification model. Use a solver that can represent the material’s frequency-dependent electric and magnetic response. Check that any retrieved parameters correspond to the orientation and construction used in the physical design. Filling a normal laminate selector with only its Dk would produce a misleading shortlist.

Demonstrate the intended antenna benefit

Set an explicit target for size, bandwidth, efficiency and matching in the complete antenna environment. Compare the candidate with a conventional dielectric baseline using equivalent constraints. Measure the assembled structure across temperature and the relevant operating band; a compact geometry is useful only if the other required antenna characteristics remain acceptable. Keep the specialized material model with the simulation and test records.
