AD250C is a woven-glass PTFE antenna laminate in the lower-Dk part of the AD family. It can be useful where a larger radiator or wider feedline geometry is acceptable. This record deliberately withholds Dk numbers from automatic use because the currently retrieved product datasheet and selector disagree on the process/design labels.
Material system
Woven-glass-reinforced PTFE
Technical properties
| Property | Reported value | Conditions / source |
|---|---|---|
| Dissipation factor | 0.0013 | Typical; 10 GHz, 23°C/50% RH; IPC-TM-650 2.5.5.5; direction is not separately recorded here. Source |
| Thermal conductivity | 0.33 W/(m·K) | Typical, through thickness; ASTM D5470. The product table does not state test temperature. Source |
| Water absorption | 0.04 % | Typical; E1/105 + D48/50, IPC-TM-650 2.6.2.1. Source |
Typical reported values are not a purchase specification. Process Dk, design Dk and values measured at different frequencies are not interchangeable.
Selection and design notes
- Investigate it for printed antennas after deciding the required footprint and feed impedance. Compare conductor geometry and environmental requirements with AD255C rather than assuming their nearby names represent identical boards.
- Before modelling, obtain clarification of the current electrical table: the product datasheet shows process 2.52 and design 2.50, while the selector assigns those values in the opposite order. The ambiguity should be resolved at the source.
Thickness and copper options
The selector lists 20, 30 and 60 mil examples; confirm current datasheet thicknesses and tolerances with the chosen copper.
ED foil weights and low-PIM options must be specified; a base AD250C name does not define the copper treatment.
Fabrication considerations
- Ask the fabricator to define its antenna-grade PTFE process, foil option and thickness tolerance. Include panel orientation and dimensional compensation in a large-array design, and plan measurements that distinguish substrate behavior from connectors and assembly.
Application fit
- Printed antennas
- Base-station feeds
- Low-Dk radiator studies
Limits and substitution checks
- A PIM characteristic belongs to a specified foil and test construction. It does not qualify a finished base-station antenna. Until the Dk label conflict is resolved, use explicitly confirmed engineering data for simulation and procurement rather than a convenient scalar copied from a third-party table.
