AD350A is the higher-permittivity antenna material among the listed AD grades. It can support more compact printed radiator and feed structures than lower-Dk AD materials, but its present source table contains a process/design Dk label conflict. This is carried forward explicitly rather than hidden in a material preset.

Material system

Woven-glass-reinforced PTFE

Technical properties

AD350A — reported properties and conditions
PropertyReported valueConditions / source
Dissipation factor0.0033Typical; 10 GHz, 23°C/50% RH; IPC-TM-650 2.5.5.5; direction is not separately recorded here. Source
Thermal conductivity0.44 W/(m·K)Typical, through thickness; ASTM D5470. The product table does not state test temperature. Source
Water absorption0.1 %Typical; E1/105 + D48/50, IPC-TM-650 2.6.2.1. Source

Typical reported values are not a purchase specification. Process Dk, design Dk and values measured at different frequencies are not interchangeable.

Selection and design notes

  • Consider it where footprint and feed geometry justify the higher permittivity. Compare complete antenna performance and manufacturing tolerances with AD300D, because a smaller layout may have narrower lines or more sensitive coupling.
  • Obtain source clarification before choosing a Dk model. The current datasheet shows process 3.54 and design 3.50; the selector reverses those assignments and gives a process tolerance. No scalar is silently selected here.

Thickness and copper options

The selector lists 30, 60 and 120 mil examples. Confirm the actual offered core and tolerance before layout release.

Foil choices strongly affect antenna loss and PIM; retain the exact copper code in procurement documents.

Fabrication considerations

  • Have the fabricator review core tolerance, foil and PTFE hole preparation. For a large panel, keep directional registration and etching controls tied to the actual antenna artwork, then measure a sample with the intended mounting and connector arrangement.

Application fit

  • Compact printed antennas
  • Antenna feed structures
  • Higher-Dk PTFE antenna studies

Limits and substitution checks

  • The Dk disagreement prevents reliable automatic model entry without confirmation. The higher Df relative to lower-Dk AD grades also needs a circuit-level budget. Published antenna uses and material flammability observations do not establish a finished assembly's PIM performance, weather resistance or qualification status.
