RO3000 materials use ceramic-filled PTFE; the related RO3200 range adds woven-glass reinforcement. This family is useful when low-loss RF paths, compact microwave structures and thermal dimensional behavior must be considered together.

Choose the field behavior first

The lower-Dk RO3003 and RO3003G2 candidates address different construction and millimeter-wave considerations. Higher-Dk RO3006 and RO3010 can support smaller resonant structures, but a smaller circuit may demand tighter etching and coupling-gap control. These are separate design tradeoffs, not an ascending performance ranking.

Reinforcement is an engineering input

Decide whether handling, panel registration or the mechanical form of a thin board makes reinforcement important. Ask how the proposed construction affects dielectric direction, routing orientation and finished dimensions. A design made on an unreinforced grade should not inherit a reinforced grade’s model simply because their nominal Dk values look close.

Plan fabrication and correlation

Confirm the material-specific drilling, hole treatment and bonding route before routing the board. For a radar feed, compare candidates with the intended copper surface and dielectric thickness, then include a transmission-line coupon in the prototype panel. Read PTFE fabrication guidance and preserve the distinction between process and design Dk in the simulation record.
